Qualification:BA Honours in Business with Economics, PGCE (Secondary)
Experience:Practicing A-level and IGCSE teacher with excellent subject knowledge and Examiner experience. Currently teaching Pearson Edexcel but also experienced in the Cambridge syllabus and AQA.
BA Honours degree in Business with Economics, UK-qualified teacher (PGCE) with over 30 years of teaching experience in excellent UK and international schools. Accomplished Examiner in both Business and Economics. This enables me to give top-level advice and practice to help students improve attainment.
Approach:I tailor my approach to meet the specific needs of each student. Whether the student is struggling with core concepts or looking to improve exam technique, I adapt my teaching style and resources to suit.
I have a calm, friendly, and positive manner. I aim to create a supportive and encouraging environment, helping students build on their skills, stay motivated, and develop the confidence to tackle challenging exam questions with guidance and specific tips and techniques. I provide measurable progress through regular checks, ensuring students are consistently moving toward their goals.
I can engage students by linking real-world examples to theoretical concepts, making the subject matter more interesting and easier to remember. A key part of tutoring at IGCSE or A-Level is helping students improve their exam technique. This involves teaching them how to effectively structure essays, manage time during exams, and critically analyze case studies. I help students master the skills required to perform well in both multiple-choice and extended-response questions by clearly understanding the Assessment Objectives.
I will provide plenty of opportunities for practice, using past exam papers, case studies, and mock tests to help students refine their knowledge and skills. I give constructive, actionable feedback that highlights strengths and areas for improvement, helping students progressively build their understanding and exam readiness.
I am patient, understanding that learning can be a gradual process, especially when dealing with complex concepts. I approach each lesson with empathy, ensuring students feel supported and encouraged throughout their learning journey.
