Experience:I hold an MSc in Food Science from the University of Peradeniya and a BSc in Agriculture from the University of Ruhuna, both in Sri Lanka. With eight years of teaching experience in biology, chemistry, and science subjects, I am passionate about helping students excel in their studies.
During my professional life, I conducted a webinar on global organic certifications for final-year students in the Department of Food Science at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in May 2023. This experience, along with a comprehensive webinar series on organic certifications in August 2022 for final-year students at the University of Ruhuna in Sri Lanka, has honed my ability to engage students creatively and effectively in scientific topics. Additionally, I developed and conducted awareness programs, demonstrating my ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
Approach:I don’t always rely on traditional notes; instead, I focus on conveying theories directly to the mind. I do daily summarization and create memory maps to enhance understanding. Many of my students have successfully reached their exam goals using these methods.
I have also been involved in various research projects, including a study on the genetic diversity of cinnamon and assessments of drinking water quality. These experiences have equipped me with practical knowledge that I am eager to share with students.
Furthermore, my strong IT skills enable me to utilize technology effectively in the classroom, enhancing the learning experience.
I possess excellent interpersonal communication skills, allowing me to work collaboratively with students to create an engaging learning environment.
