I successfully completed my trainee teaching year in a large and diverse secondary school in London. There, I demonstrated strong teaching qualities and served as a positive role model for students by becoming a reliable part of the team. My experiences in the UK and Doha as a teacher of English have further developed my skills, enabling me to build effective and constructive relationships with children from all backgrounds. I proactively collaborated with heads of years, pastoral teams, and other members of staff to create fair and consistent behavior management strategies to support all students.
Additionally, I have been an Examiner for AQA Exam Board and have marked English Language GCSE Papers.
My time as a teacher has given me varied experiences such as team planning and developing a wide range of assessment opportunities. A strength of my teaching ability is to effectively implement “Assessment for Learning” techniques as I consistently encourage children to reflect on their learning against the lesson aims.
In addition, within my lessons, I encourage students to reflect upon their success by providing opportunities to self-assess and invite them to consider what they want to learn and how they can achieve this. I am able to naturally adapt lessons, recognizing gaps in fundamental skills and develop my lessons to create the building blocks which will ensure students can develop to more complex skills.
