Experience:Student-focused educational professional with 22 years of demonstrated experience in helping students learn and achieve academic success. Possess strong teaching skills combined with excellent knowledge of subject content and a solid understanding of connecting core content to real-world applications. I teach Arabic as a foreign language to adults and to students in Years 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11. I prepare students to participate in the IGCSE Arabic exam. Additionally, I teach IGCSE Islamiyat to students in Years 10 and 11.
Approach:Lesson planning is a crucial aspect of my teaching that involves careful preparation to ensure effective learning experiences for students. That is why I endeavor to create well-structured, engaging, and meaningful lessons that support student learning and achievement. In my opinion, flexibility is key, as teaching often involves adapting plans based on student needs and classroom dynamics.
Exam rubric (what the exam boards want to see and how they want to see it) will feature heavily, and weaknesses will be consolidated over time. I have been an examiner myself, so I know how the papers are marked and how best to structure answers so full marks can be gained.
Teaching is a two-way process, so expect questions, lots and lots of questions. If any stumbling blocks are encountered, I will use a range of questioning techniques to get to the bottom of the problem. Once identified, bridges will be built, and firm foundations laid on which to build even more knowledge. Effective questioning is how a teacher successfully does their job. One of the key benefits of online teaching is having the opportunity to assess a student's knowledge in a relaxed, calm, and non-judgmental environment, and remedy where appropriate.
