Qualification:PGDE in Secondary Maths, Uni of Edinburgh; also MSc and MEng
Experience:I have 10 years of very diverse teaching experience in Scotland, England, New Zealand and Spain; in all types of schools with students at all levels. I have also given private tutorials, in person and online. I can teach any maths topic in any curriculum, mainly Cambridge (A levels, IGCSE, GCSE ) but also other systems. I value students' understanding the most but I am also happy to prepare them for their exams. Before becoming a teacher I worked as a civil engineer in the UK for 5 years.
Approach:I help students achieve their goals; either get to know the subject well and apply it correctly in their studies or prepare for exams to pass with a good grade. I aim to find out exactly why my student is struggling; is it: a gap in learning; not understanding the topic, or a particular problem, or an exam question; or lack of practise. With my background I am able to develop good and friendly relationships quickly. I have high expectations but I give all the support that the learner needs.
