Experience:

Over 22 years in education and taught across the primary spectrum. Worked in Jamaica, London and Qatar and have been in Qatar for 7 years Style of teaching: Regular provide students with feedback to support their learning; ensure that the work is neither too easy or hard; engage students in their learning; help students to discover the meaning and value of learning material. Qualification: Diploma in Education, B.Ed. MBA, Teaching English as a Second Language

Approach:

First, I normally do an assessment to see where the children are and based on the results, I plan the lesson accordingly. If the parent wants me just to help with school work, I follow the medium term and weekly plan and ensure that the student understands the work by using different methodology to reinforce learning. My lesson is child centered and is personalised learning, meaning, take the child from where he/she is. My tutoring techniques are: -ask open ended questions - pose questions that require more than a yes/no response -rephrase questions -ask probing questions to follow up on the student's understanding and contribution
