Experience:I'm a native speaker from the United States and I've been teaching professionally and full-time for 12 years in Africa, Europe, South America, and the Gulf. I am an IELTS-certified speaking examiner, and hold a CELTA English teaching certificate.
Approach:My style of teaching focuses heavily on oral communication and places an emphasis on the student's active participation. Classes are not lectures from the teacher- they heavily involve the student and get the student speaking as much as possible. I take notes of new vocabulary and grammar points during each lesson, review noticed errors with the student at the end of each class, and the student keeps the notes which we've reviewed and corrected. I incorporate a variety of materials into each lesson in order to make them as dynamic as possible, such as video clips, news articles, and song lyrics which are topical. I adjust each course to cater to the student's personal and changing needs, such as if the student needs to improve their writing for the IELTS exam, or improve their spoken English for a business trip or vacation.
