Approach:I have ten years’ experience in preparing students for their 11+ and GCSE exams. I provide a holistic and applied approach to learning, drawing in from my professional experience to give examples to contextualise concepts for my students. For students preparing for their 11+ entrance exams, I not only provide tuition for the core subjects, but also for their verbal and non-verbal reasoning papers. I train them for their interviews, so they are prepared for questions that are likely to be asked, and how to effectively sell their skills and experience to secure a seat in their chosen school. At GCSE level I specialise in maths, business and economics, although I have proven success in tutoring other core subjects such as the sciences and English. My approach is one that seeks to fill in any gaps in their knowledge. I start with an exam diagnosis to identify the areas of strengths of the student, and areas that require attention and improvement. I share subject-specific shortcuts I have developed through my experience in tutoring and equip my students with the necessary (and often overlooked) skills of exam technique. Since moving to Qatar, I have supported Qatari students wishing to study at various UK universities and home-bound students in Qatar that are taking economics at university level. There is little availability of female economics tutors with extensive industry experience that can provide clear real-life examples of economic theories and concepts.
