Experience:I am a 31 year old Australian teacher here in Qatar. My native language is English. I have been teaching English language and literature, Ancient and Modern History, Geography and Social Studies, for 8 years now. When I began with my IGCSE class at the beginning of the 2019-2020 academic year, they were only achieving C's and D's and by June 2020 all but one students were recieving A*-C. There were 23 in the class and 11 students recieved an A* or an A. Therefore, I have had great success in pushing students to achieve their potential. I currently tutor several students who attend the North Atlantic college in their English, another Qatari student who is studying to finish her IELTS qualification. All show great promise in passing there subjects. I am respectful, honest, organised and want to see results. After every session, a quick discussion should take place in order to discuss what happened in the session.
Approach:My tutoring approach will largely depend on the student that I have been asked to tutor. The first session will always be one of discovery. This means that I will be able to determine where the student is at in the subject, where they are struggling and what needs to be done in order for them to improve. After this has been determined, sessions will predominately be related to the areas they need aid with. by the use of visuals, such as PowerPoints, YouTube, writing tasks and their homework tasks.
