Experience:

I have 25 years teaching experience. I am currently teaching year 2 students, I am American, but I am currently working in a school using the British system of instruction. However, I have worked with all age groups and subject areas. I have lived and worked in Japan where I taught conversational English. In the American public and private school system, I have taught special education, preschool, first grade, - 8 grade students. I have also taught individual piano lessons, band (all instruments), chorus, and general music. My speciality is helping children who find learning difficult.

Approach:

My speciality is helping children who find learning difficult. My Masters Degree in special education has aided me in helping students in need and at high risk. I focus on the needs of the student, and what will best allow them to learn and succeed. I use different teaching methods. I like to focus on hands on activities that help student get involved with their learning. I like to make the concepts and objectives being taught interesting to the student. This helps them take responsibility for their learning. I understand many different theories of instruction; this combined with my years of experience allows me to adjust instruction on an individual student working at their level and moving them forward.
