Qualification:Diploma in English Language Teaching/ MA in Journalism/ BA honours in Languages.
Experience:I have been teaching English on and off for the past 20 years. For the past 4 and a half years I've been based in Doha teaching one-to-one lessons, short courses as well as full time work for different institutions and schools. I have taught children as young as three to mature adults, university students, English for Specific Purposes, English for Academic Purposes, General English, phonics, basic literacy skills and IELTS preparation courses. I am currently studying towards the Cambridge Diploma in English Language Teaching, having passed two modules and now studying towards the final one.
Approach:Depending on the needs of the student, I will assess each student individually. If it's conversation then we take a topic based approach, taking into consideration topics of interest to the student - to help improve fluency in the language. Examples of activities we may do in a typical conversation class - role play, listening and reading comprehension, games and activities around using key language to help improve fluency. For grammar we will study different points in turn, learning the grammar rules and structure, applying it in everyday language and doing extended activities to practice and improve. Business English will be based around the student's area of work and their needs to communicate.
