  1. What is a Fraction? • A fraction represents a part of a whole. • It is written in the form of numerator/denominator. Numerator: The top number, indicating how many parts are being considered. Denominator: The bottom number, indicating the total number of equal parts in the whole. Example: In the fraction 3/4, 3 is the numerator and 4 is the denominator, meaning 3 out of 4 equal parts. Types of Fractions 2. 3. Proper Fractions: A fraction where the numerator is smaller than the denominator. Example: 3/5 (3 parts out Of 5). Improper Fractions: A fraction where the numerator is greater than or equal to the denominator. Example: 7/5 (7 parts out of 5). Mixed Numbers. A whole number combined with a proper fraction.
