Value engineering is an effective methodology to improve the value of a project for client and it’s a powerful tool to drive a team to generate opportunities through brain storming by function. Value can be improved in different ways such as cost, quality, serviceability, environment, and performance and other.

Value Engineering is an organized team effort aimed at analyzing Functions and Quality of projects (goods, services and processes) to generate practical cost-effective alternatives that meet customer requirements. It is not reduction cost tool, since cost reduction does not ensure improving quality.

Value engineering can be used as an effective tool early in the project development process for identifying innovative alternatives and options for a project.

Value engineering is an effective tool during various phases of the development of a project. Typically, the value methodology has been applied after preliminary design or about 30 percent design. However, the process has proven most effective early in the development of the project as this allow for more creativity and fewer constraints to the value engineering team.
